About
Hi, I’m Cortney.
I’ve spent my whole life documenting. The one with the disposable in middle school. The one with the point and shoot in college. The digital albums, the blogs, the shares. They’ve all been avenues that have allowed me to create, which I’ve learned, is truly what fuels me.
Coming from a family of entrepreneurs and creatives, I've always had a desire to design my own career doing what I love. I went to school for interiors and architecture, practiced marketing out of school with my communications degree in tech and retail, and then found myself jumping the corporate ship for freedom so I could reap the benefits of my own work.
After posting outfits to Instagram, I was nudged by colleagues to start a style blog, which ultimately let me to start The Grey Edit in 2016. Not only did it allow me to document my personal style journey, it uncovered my passion for inspiring other women to find their own edit. Then, I was nudged by a friend to turn my other passion of taking photos into a business, leading to the launch of The Grey Edit Photo in 2020. Since then I’ve honed in on what lights me up the most — empowering women through creative portraits.
You can find me on social media daily sharing bits across style, photography and also just pieces about my life — being a wife, a mother and my most recent accomplishment — leading the design on our remodeled midcentury home. Thanks for following along and being here. I hope to connect with you soon!
